Four charged for committing drug crimes, linked to overdose cases

When law enforcement officials feel that there is a drug epidemic happening in their state, they often end up cracking down on people suspected of committing drug crimes. They may start making more arrests or charging people with more serious crimes-the end result could be bad news for someone facing drug charges.

Four people recently arrested in New York on suspicion of committing drug crimes are the result of various police officers and detectives working together to combat a growing opioid epidemic. According to the police, three of the four were charged with criminal sale and possession of controlled substances and weapons and the remaining man was charged with loitering. According to officials, these four can be linked to a number of overdose cases in the area, including two fatalities.

According to the police, they seized weapons, drugs and illegal cash from a residential unit that they obtained a warrant to search. They allegedly discovered two pistols, crack cocaine, a shotgun, fentanyl, $10,000 in drug money and other substances.

Drug charges should be taken very seriously, as they come with severe penalties. In addition to this, when prosecutors are under pressure from the public to throw the book at alleged offenders, it is important to keep in mind that the accused has certain constitutional rights they can avail. It may be in one's best interest to consult an experienced defense attorney as soon as possible. These situations are very complicated and having the guidance of a professional who understands the ins and outs of the charges can be invaluable.
