New York man charged with two DWIs in one night

A New York man has been arrested for driving under the influence twice in one night. According to police officers, the man was driving at a local fast food restaurant when he hit the car in front of him in the drive-through line at around 1:00 a.m. At that time, police claim that the man's blood alcohol content level was more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent. They say his BAC level registered at 0.25 percent.

Following his arrest on DWI charges, the man was released to a sober party. However, the police claim that the man didn't end his night there. Instead, the police report that the man was arrested again, at the same fast food restaurant, a few hours after his initial arrest. In this instance, which occurred at around 5:00 a.m., police say that the man ran into the back of the restaurant. They arrested the man and charged him with another DWI.

While some people may find this man's actions amusing, the consequences for multiple DWI offenses are nothing to laugh at. People can face very serious consequences for driving while intoxicated, including jail or prison time, large fines, probation, alcohol education classes and the loss of driving privileges. The exact penalties will depend on the number of times a person has faced DWI or DUI charges, the person's blood alcohol level at the time of the arrest, whether the person caused an accident and other factors.

It is important for people to understand exactly what they have been charged with so that they can defend against the charges. In cases where people have been charged for drunk driving, there are ways to challenge police evidence and win the case. In particular, people need to make sure that police accurately took their BAC level at the time of their arrest. If the police did not follow standard police procedures, evidence may be excluded from court.
