Providing Local Counsel For Professional Drivers
All professional drivers know the importance of maintaining their commercial driver’s licenses. If your CDL is threatened by a traffic violation or DWI charge, you need an attorney to protect your rights. I represent truckers who drive for trucking companies and those who are independent contractors, as well as delivery drivers, taxi, limousine, van and bus drivers.
For legal assistance with traffic, DWI or trucking violations, contact the law office of James M. Wagman. I have over 35 years of experience representing drivers from New York and out of state. Whether you were pulled over in your personal vehicle or while driving for work, you need a lawyer to protect your rights.
Consequences Of A Conviction
CDL holders in the U.S. must report moving violation convictions and DWI convictions to their employers within 30 days, even if they were driving their personal vehicles for nonwork purposes when they were ticketed. I represent drivers ticketed for violations such as:
- Speeding offenses
- Reckless driving offenses
- Texting and other violations connected to hand-held cellphone use
A conviction for any of these violations may cause you to lose your CDL temporarily or permanently. If you are eligible for reinstatement, you must go through administrative hearings and processes with the appropriate licensing agency.
Being convicted of traffic or DWI charges will also mean expensive fines. Your commercial driving insurance carrier will be notified of the violations and may raise your rates or terminate your coverage. Trucking and driving companies may not wish to hire you because they will have to pay more to insure you.
In addition to traffic tickets, I can help independent contractors who have violated state and federal trucking regulations, such as size and weight violations, logbook violations, and maintenance and equipment violations.
