Take Steps To Protect Your Record

If you are driving with a suspended or revoked license, you will be charged with an AUO or aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor which is a criminal charge. For example, you could be stopped for a speeding ticket or even a taillight going out. As soon as the officer checks your record and discovers your license has been suspended or revoked, you will be charged.

People have their license suspended or revoked for a number of reasons, but in most cases this happens because they did not respond to a previous ticket. If you have been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation because you failed to respond to a prior traffic ticket, it is important to deal with the initial ticket. If you are able to resolve that ticket, it can help tremendously.

Types Of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation

There are multiple types of aggravated unlicensed operation, but the most common is the lowest form, known as AUO 3rd. Driving with a suspended license is a misdemeanor, and so is AUO 3rd. Depending upon the circumstances behind your suspension or revocation, you could even be charged with and arrested for an AUO 1st, a felony.
