Head-on car accident injures three and results in felony DWI

On Behalf of | Nov 8, 2018 | Drunk Driving |

With cooler weather and winter rapidly approaching, the roads in the Hudson Valley will be treacherous enough. With the holidays coming quickly, that danger will be accentuated with the possibility that drivers might head out on the road after having a few drinks. When there are allegations that a driver was under the influence and that caused an accident, this can result in drunk driving charges and severe consequences because people were injured or killed. After an accident with drunk driving charges and serious injuries, the driver will run the risk of facing felony charges and the accompanying penalties. With these charges, having a good legal defense is crucial.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on a slew of drunk driving charges after a head-on collision with another vehicle left three people hurt. The accident happened at around 7 p.m. when law enforcement was called. It involved two vehicles. The arrested driver was going south in a 2013 F150 when he crossed the center line and went into the wrong lane, crashing into a 2017 Honda Civic. The three injured were in the Honda. One was seriously hurt. When he was tested to determine his blood alcohol content level, the driver of the Ford was found to be triple the legal limit for BAC. He was charged with felony vehicular assault, aggravated DWI and more.

While those who are alleged to have been driving under the influence and had a crash are viewed negatively and treated poorly for what they are said to have done, it does not mean they are guilty and do not have the right to a strong defense. When there are DWI charges, it can have a long-lasting impact on the person’s life should they be convicted. Loss of driving privileges and fines are difficult enough, but with felony charges, there can be an extended jail sentence. Depending on the situation, the person’s life can be completely ruined because of these charges. To avoid the worst penalties, those who are confronted with these allegations must remember to speak to a lawyer before anything else.

This incident involves a man who was said to have three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system and drove on the wrong side of the road, causing a head-on car accident and injuring three people. With the troubling allegations, the man needs to have someone on his side from the beginning. A lawyer who has a history of assisting people who have been arrested and charged with a wide range of DWI offenses should be contacted as the case moves forward to prepare a defense.
