Man faces multiple charges after alleged DWI crash

On Behalf of | Jul 21, 2017 | Drunk Driving |

When a person is charged with driving under the influence in Hudson County, the charges and the penalties will depend on the incident or series of incidents that precipitated the arrest. There might be multiple offenses linked to the DWI based on the circumstances. Regardless of the case and the allegations, those who are facing charges for driving under the influence must make sure they know what they are up against and how a conviction can negatively affect their lives. A legal defense is essential.

A man was placed under arrest after an alleged DWI crash and is confronted with other charges for alleged acts at the police station after the arrest. A car accident between two vehicles happened at around 5:45 p.m. When law enforcement arrived to investigate, they found a 52-year-old man had crashed into the back of another car. He was arrested for DWI.

A test stated that his blood-alcohol content was .19 percent. That is more than twice the legal limit for being under the influence. As he was being booked, the man is said to have exposed himself to a female officer and then urinated on the floor of the booking room. He faces multiple charges related to these incidents.

Being arrested for DWI does not just carry with it the expected penalties such as jail time and fines. There can also be other punishments such as a driver’s license suspension, an ignition interlock device and more. This man was also accused of other crimes while he was being booked. Although the accusations are serious, that does not automatically mean he is guilty. The testing procedures could have been faulty. Proper protocol might not have been followed. No matter the situation, everyone who is charged with DWI must make certain to lodge a strong defense. A legal professional experienced in all aspects of these charges can help.
