Accused murder accomplice found and arrested

A person who is facing the possibility of serious criminal charges is in a bad predicament. Not only could the accused endure harsh penalties if he or she is convicted, but they could also suffer hardships impacting his or her personal and professional life. Because allegations of a violent crime could carry with it some consequences, it is important that accused offenders take time to understand the defense options available to them.

According to recent reports, a 22-year-old man was captured in Pennsylvania, arrested and sent to Queens in connection with what authorities said was New York City's first murder of 2017.

Based on preliminary reports, the accused and another assailant were trying to rob a 31-year-old man and his brother on 124th Street in South Richmond Hill. During this encounter, the accused and the other assailant supposedly shot the two victims. Authorities arrested the other assailant shortly after the crime apparently occurred.

The recently apprehended man was charged with murder, robbery and assault for his supposed role in the shooting and death of one of the victims. Both men are being held in jail without bail while they await trial.

Those accused of serious crimes such as murder or assault should understand that there are defense options available. While the potential penalties can be harsh, it is important to consider all the evidence present and possible ways to reduce or dismiss the charges against them. Those facing severe criminal charges should seek guidance from a legal professional. This could ensure that a defendant is well aware of their options and their rights are protected.
